About

Xiomara Ramirez

Xiomara Ramirez is the founder of Forward Hope, LLC, a remote private practice dedicated to providing holistic approaches to mental health and wellbeing. Her professional journey spans diverse roles, including clinical director, clinical supervisor, and field instructor. She has also worked as a substance use counselor, migration and trauma therapist, infant-toddler specialist, and family support specialist. In addition to her private practice, she currently practices in forensic social work, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to supporting individuals with complex needs and advancing the field through service, advocacy, and education.

Xiomara is the author of the books When Eating Hurts: A Family's Journey with ARFID and SPD and Our Way to Licensing: Unlocking Success and Securing the Optimal Job. When Eating Hurts was inspired by her family's thirteen-year journey navigating Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), healthcare systems, educational systems, and the search for answers. Through her writing, she seeks to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and help families feel less alone in their journey. Our Way to Licensing is a practical guide designed to support aspiring professionals as they navigate the behavioral health field, licensing process, and career development.

Xiomara holds a master's degree from the Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work and a graduate certification as an Infant-Toddler Specialist from Erikson Institute. She is a Registered Clinical Supervisor with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), an Integrative Mental Health Professional (CIMHP), and an Inclusive Eating Disorder Specialist (IEDS).

Driven by both personal and professional experience, Xiomara pursued specialized training in eating disorders to better support her son and to address the need for culturally informed eating disorder treatment, particularly within the Spanish-speaking community. Her commitment to professional growth is further reflected in her certifications as a Mental Health Coach, Trauma-Informed Practitioner, Perinatal Mental Health Specialist, and Domestic Violence Advocate. She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), and is a certified Enneagram Instructor, emphasizing her dedication to understanding individual differences and fostering personal growth.

Xiomara serves as Secretary of the Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work Alumni Association Board and mentors aspiring social workers. With over a decade of community service, including ten years of volunteer work in the faith-recovery community, she continues to provide education, support, and connection through free online groups, writing, speaking engagements, and mentoring.

Her personal philosophy centers on continuous learning, collaboration, and empathy, approached with curiosity and a strong commitment to growth. Her values are reflected in her favorite quotes: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better” by Maya Angelou, and “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” by Helen Keller.
